We recently had the huge opportunity to sound design the graphics package for the new Victory+ sports network.

The process was intense and included several rounds of revisions.

Visually, there’s a common theme of metallic looking elements sliding in and locking together before either drifting or unlocking and sliding back off of the page. I built a very cool metallic locking sound around that moment that I used to tie everything together. With the central lockdown element in place, I filled in all of the rest of the movement with glassy slides and cool synthetic clicks to add a lot of polish and detail to the rest of the package.

When the client came into review, he didn’t like the metal lockdown sound and asked me to remove it. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen, but when I muted the tracks that I had built everything up around we both found that the design was just a ton cleaner and slicker than when it was in there in the first place.

I added a bit more low end and some other delay processing to the elements that remained, and we had ourselves a package.

It plays incredibly well with the custom music that we also composed for the network and now its out and in circulation for all to see. Check it out!
